A large centre of cultural production and dissemination in Brazil, the State of São Paulo offers options for cultural activities to meet the expectations of the most diverse types of public. Orchestras, operas, ballets, exhibitions and shows from around the world present their art on its stages over the year, in a program with extremely diverse options from both the cultural and financial perspective.
The capital is the national reference in the organization of large events, such as the International Arts Biennial, the Book Biennial, the International Film Festival, the International Shorts Festival and the Virada Cultural, among others. According to São Paulo Turismo, the capital houses more than 280 movie theaters, 180 theaters, 110 museums and more than 90 cultural centers (2015).
