On Wednesday, November 23, São Paulo's State Secretariat for Economic Development (SDE) participated in the  5th FEI Congress on Innovation and Megatrends 2050 – Energy and Sustainability for Life, organized by the FEI University Center in São Bernardo do Campo, Greater São Paulo.

Represented by Davi Lopes, Energy Transition Specialist from InvestSP the secretariat played a key role in the debate on strategies and solutions for transitioning to a low-carbon economy. The event brought together public sector representatives, private companies, and third-sector organizations.

Aligned with São Paulo’s development pathways, which include decarbonization, energy transition, and circular economy, InvestSP has been actively engaged in projects and initiatives supporting public policy formulation to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. This work is done in collaboration with the State Secretariat for Environment, Infrastructure, and Logistics (SEMIL).

The agency also provides support to the private sector in the development of energy transition projects in industrial units and processes. InvestSP is particularly focused on promoting the use of energy sources like hydrogen and biomethane, which can be derived from sugarcane.

“As one of the world’s largest sugarcane producers, São Paulo is well-positioned to lead the energy transition, not just in Brazil, but globally. We aim to encourage dialogue and propose practical actions so that the private sector and government can collaborate strategically,” said Davi Lopes.
