The Secretariat for Economic Development of the State of São Paulo (SDE) is set to map business opportunities for companies in São Paulo to expand into Austria. On Wednesday, November 23, InvestSP's international team welcomed a delegation from the European country, including representatives from the Vienna Business Agency, to São Paulo’s capital.

The Vienna Business Agency offers financial and technical support to Austrian companies seeking business and partnership opportunities, particularly in the technology and creative economy sectors, as well as to foreign companies looking to establish operations in Austria.

The meeting served as a platform to discuss potential joint initiatives aimed at creating business opportunities for both São Paulo and Austrian companies, thus strengthening trade relations between the state and Austria.

In recent months, Austria has expressed interest in partnerships and bilateral trade in the clean energy sector, as part of its efforts to meet decarbonization targets for its energy matrix in the coming years. São Paulo, as a leader in ethanol production and advancing hydrogen and biomethane production from sugarcane, positions itself as a key partner in South America for this initiative.

“It was a productive exchange of knowledge, where we identified mutual interests and laid the groundwork for future opportunities and business deals for companies from São Paulo. This could result in job creation and income generation in the state,” said Fernando Fritz, director of InvestSP’s European office. Fritz is currently in Brazil for a series of meetings with European business leaders and authorities interested in exploring trade opportunities with São Paulo.

In addition to the European office, based in Munich, Germany, InvestSP operates three other international offices that work to attract foreign investment to São Paulo and facilitate the expansion of São Paulo companies abroad. These offices are located in New York (United States), Shanghai (China), and Dubai (United Arab Emirates).
