Zambon starts producing at the plant of rival Boehringer

The pharmaceutical laboratories Zambon and Boerhringer Ingelheim have just entered into an unprecedented partnership in the Country: the outsourcing of production between laboratories. Italian Zambon transferred its entire production to German Boehringer yesterday so that it becomes responsible for the production of its medicines.

According to Geraldi, since 2005 Boehringer has been working with the strategy called ICB (Industrial Customer Business), which basically consists on the outsourcing of other productions. The great innovation in the partnership with Zambon is the kind of business. According to the officer, the goal of achieving US$ 6 million of growth for the ICB area will be reached in 2009.

The area was created with the purpose of increasing the operations in the market and increasing the production of the Industrial Complex of the company in Itapecerica da Serra (SP). "The model, which is also referred to as joint ownership, allows the partner the continuation of the service. This way, companies willing to getting installed in the industrial complex of Boehringer, may use the already installed infrastructure, optimizing their resources", explains the company. Today, the businesses of the ICB area are responsible for 8% of the income of Boehringer, equivalent to R$ 2.2 million (US$ 1.1 billion).

The international CEO of Zambon, Roberto Consonni, has come to Brazil to take part in the symbolic inauguration of the new line of production and also of the new administrative office acquired by the laboratory. In an exclusive interview to DCI, Consonni recalled the relevance of the Country for the group. "Among the countries of the so-called BRIC group (Brazil, Russia, India and China), Brazil is the one that presented the greater increase, nearly 9% - volume that should double in 5 or 6 years", he affirmed.

According to the general manager of the laboratory, Wilson Borges, Brazil is the fourth greatest operation of the Italian multinational company that operates in 16 countries, and intends to grow further. "We are analyzing new acquisitions and also getting ready to be preferential partners of other companies in the Country", he said.
