The new investment plans of the car sector for the coming years have already begun being announced by the makers, particularly in Brazil, one of the most promising markets for the sector in the world. Last Friday, American Ford announced investments of R$ 4 billion (US$ 2.3 billion) in Brazil until 2015, which will increase the production of the maker that is currently in fourth place in the ranking of the internal market. Next Thursday, the 26th, the President of Volkswagen do Brasil, Thomas Schmall, should announce a new investment plan of the company for the next five years.

In the case of Volkswagen, it is the plant located at Via Anchieta (Anchieta Highway), in São Bernardo do Campo, in Sao Paulo, that should receive the investments, according to recent declarations of Schmall. The volume of the investment will be part of the total investment of the maker, US$ 29.55 billion, for the period between 2010 and 2012, an amount which was announced by the company last Friday.

According to the company, from that amount, half should stay in Germany, its country of origin. In Brazil, the last investment plan of the German maker amounted to R$ 3.2 billion (US$ 1.9 billion) for the period between 2007 and 2011. The figures will thus be changed in view of the need to accelerate the investments in the region. Also on Friday, Volkswagen's board authorized the integration of the maker with Porsche. The maker plans on buying a slice of 49.9% of Porsche's operations of sports cars.
