Tivit gets Santos in pace of decentralization

Valor Econômico

Tivit inaugurated its first unit in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo, in December. The office aims at application systems and business process outsourcing (BPO), and it integrates the model of the company of spreading the expansion beyond the large capitals. The unit - the 18th of Tivit and 6th outside São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro - required investments of R$ 35 million (US$ 20.6 million). It features 3 thousand square meters in the downtown area of the city and 2 thousand direct employees. The facility has capacity for up to 4.5 thousand employees, number that should be achieved by the end of the year, says the Officer of Strategic Planning of the company, André Guimarães:

The bet of the company specialized in integrated services of technology on the coast was driven by a combination of factors: the nearness to São Paulo, reduced cost and abundant workforce specialized in information technology (IT). All universities and colleges of Santos have some course related to IT, forming a contingent of young people who usually climb up the hills after good job opportunities.

All Tivit employees live in the region of Santos. According to the Executive, the fact the city is going through an expansion in the investments with the modernization of the port and now with the pre-salt layer was not decisive for the decision. "The clients we cater to in Santos have nationwide operations. Our portfolio is made up of 300 companies listed among the 500 largest of Brazil", highlights Guimarães.

Since 2009, the annual sales of Tivit have stayed above R$ 1 billion (US$ 535 million). For the year, it is expected two-digit growth. "Our idea is to render process management services, as well as develop them. The expansion to Santos, like to other places, should help the company in that regard", says Guimarães.

The multinational Totvs has also increased its activities in Santos. Last year, the company created the structure of a distribution channel, subject to the unit of capital, which previously provided services to the region. "We are alert to what's happening all over the region of Baixada Santista. Not only in the area of oil and gas and logistics, but also the impact of such growth in sectors such as education, civil construction and business hospitality", says the Consulting Director of Totvs, Denis Del Bianco.
