Technological park of Sorocaba to have US$ 51.8 million

The municipality of Sorocaba - the third in population and one of the most developed of the State of São Paulo, with a budget that gets to R$ 1 billion (US$ 518.1 million) - receives investments that should put even more action in its economy this year.
One of the main investments is the construction of the new technological park, starting this half, which will attract dozens of companies, like Toyota and some of its suppliers, to the municipality. The financing of the park is above R$ 100 million (US$ 51.8 million), which resources from the State Government and the municipal administration.
The technological park will feature an institutional area in which a campus of the University of the State of São Paulo (Unesp), one unit of the National Service of Industrial Learning (Senai) and one Technology College (Fatec) will be installed.
Another investment, pointed out by Mayor Vitor Lippi, is the construction of 30 kilometers of new avenues. The project will be carried out by the municipal administration in partnership with the Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF). Both the parties will invest R$ 100 million (US$ 51.8 million).
Lippi said that in order to develop the economy of the municipality, besides the investments mentioned, the municipal administration has a project of professional qualification. At least three thousand new desks will be available this year at the Universidade do Trabalhador (Worker University) (Unit), which offers professionalizing courses that with the purpose of catering to the main needs of the industries of the municipality, identified through market surveys.
