Sybase profits US$ 37 million and foresees 3rd quarter with high income

The period of financial and economic crisis and of reduction of the corporate budgets seems to be leaving the stage to give room to positive results for some areas, as indicates the global market of software. The international Sybase, supplier of programs for the management of information in mobile environments, which operates in Brazil, for example, had net profits of US$ 37.6 million in the second quarter this year, an increase of 26% if compared to the same period of the previous year. For the third quarter, the company foresees a total income between US$ 275 million and US$ 280 million, representing growth from 4% to 6%.
In Brazil, Sybase has nearly 40 employees, with its head office located in São Paulo and another office in Brasilia. Nationally, nearly 80% of the businesses of the company are made directly, through a commercial team, and the rest are businesses made by means of distributors and partners. Sybase operates all over Latin America, with offices in Argentina and Mexico, and Brazil being the most important country of this region. According to the company, nearly 50% of the company income in Latin America is generated by Brazil.
Another company, Informática Corporation, of services and software solutions, registered total earnings of US$ 117.3 million in the second quarter of this year, a 3% increase in relation to the US$ 113.8 million revealed in the same period of 2008.
In the half, the income amounted to US$ 226.4 million, growth of 4% compared to the US$ 217.5 million registered in the first half of last year. In this period, the company also announced the acquisition of the company AddressDoctor to consolidate its leadership in the segment of data quality.
In Latin America, the company has offices in Brazil and Mexico, besides operating with partners in Argentina, the Caribbean, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru and Puerto Rico.
