Sun Mobi announced an investment of BRL 23 million in the implementation of a photovoltaic solar plant in the city of Taubaté, Vale do Paraíba.The company, which provides solar energy subscription services, is investing in the expansion of its operations in the state of São Paulo, where it already operates two other energy production units in Porto Feliz and Araçoiaba da Serra.

The new facility will have the capacity to generate 5 megawatts (MW) and will supply energy to commercial and residential properties in 28 cities in the state in the concession area of EDP São Paulo, which includes important cities such as Guarulhos, in Greater SP, and São José dos Campos, in Vale do Paraíba.

The commissioning of the plant is scheduled for the second half of 2023, the unit in Taubaté should generate 125 jobs in its operation and will be built thanks to the contribution of GET Energy Trading, Sun Mobi’s investor partner.

This is Sun Mobi’s second project assisted by InvestSP.The state agency had already provided support in the implementation of the company’s plant in Porto Feliz and this time it helped the company find an area suitable for the energy generation unit in Taubaté.

“São Paulo has a huge potential for generating solar energy yet to be explored, there are several business opportunities to be developed in this sector. We will strive to ensure that green energy projects are increasingly relevant and contribute to the economic growth of the state economy,” said the president of InvestSP, Rui Gomes Junior.

Sun Mobi’s business model provides solar energy without requiring the installation of photovoltaic panels on the consumer’s property. The energy is generated in the company’s plants and normally reaches the customer through the distributor that serves their home or business. The customer subscribes to our service, which grants credits to be consumed throughout the month.A digital center installed by the company allows customers to monitor the consumption of their monthly subscription.

“In addition to the economic benefits, the construction of the new plant will bring great environmental benefits to the region.Over a 30-year operating horizon and generating 658,000 kilowatt-hour (kWh), we will manage to avoid the emission of 82,700 tons of CO2, which is equivalent to approximately 507,000 planted trees,” says Guilherme Susteras, SunMobi’s partner.

The municipal government of Taubaté has partnered with Sun Mobi to carry out the investment and sees the establishment of businesses in this sector in the city as positive.“Taubaté welcomes Sun Mobi with open arms, a company that is making a BRL 23 million investment and bringing access to clean energy to so many people who wish to have a more sustainable energy system. This is very positive for the people of Taubaté and for the economy of our city,” said the mayor of Taubaté, José Antônio Saud.
