The Spanish Government and companies are showing "political and financial interest" taking part in the dispute for the bid of high speed train between Rio and São Paulo, as announced yesterday the Minister of Foreign Relations of Spain, Miguel-Ángel Moratinos. Arriving in Brazil, coming from Venezuela, on Wednesday night, Moratinos had a meeting, late that night, with Brazilian authorities, among them the international adviser of the Presidency, Marco Aurélio Garcia, and directors of the BNDES (National Development Bank). The high speed train was one of the main subjects of the meeting.
"For the Spanish, the project of the high speed train is very attractive", insisted Moratinos, who brought to Brazil a party of executives from 20 companies, two of them, CAF and Tago, of the railroad sector. Moratinos recalled that, in 2012, Spain should be the country with the longest railroad system per inhabitant, cellebrated the success of the system of high speed trains in the country and said he expects a very "hard" competition in Brazil.
