SP Gold Line Subway Bidding Rules Published

The Government of São Paulo publishes today the bidding rules for line #17 - Ouro (Gold, in English), the monorail that will connect the future Morumbi subway station (Line #4 - Yellow) to the airport of Congonhas, to the train line #9 - Emerald (Morumbi station), and to the subway lines #1 - Blue (Jabaquara station) and #5 - Lilac (future Água Espraiada station). The work was considered one of the priorities for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, when the Morumbi stadium was considered the alternative for the opening of the Championship.Yesterday, the Government announced some info on the project. According to Governor Alberto Goldman, the winning company will be responsible for the implementation of the line, systems and for the providing of the fleet of 24 trains. The winner will be the one offering the lowest price, but the Government has not released the economic data of the work. According to the initial estimate, the project would cost R$ 3.17 billion (US$ 1.86 billion). The bidding rules will be available for 45 days as of their publication, and the proposals shall be opened on November 18th. The monorail will be built as an elevated railway, with 18 km of length and 19 stations.
