The shoe market begins 2010 more optimistic. The entities that represent the sector affirmed yesterday, on the first day of the 37th Edition of the Couromoda, that the projection of physical growth for this year is of 7% in the internal market. As regards the exports, the perspective is of 3%. "I consider the 3% goal, which does not take into account the exchange rate-related changes, a modest one", emphasized the President of the Brazilian Association of the Shoe Makers (Abicalçados), Milton Cardoso. He believes the exchange rate may have positive changes for the sector still this year.
According to data of the Abicalçados, the market projects reaching a number of production of 800 million pairs of shoes during 2010. In 2009, nearly 630 million pairs were sold in the domestic market. However, despite the growth, the market still has great idle capacity and it might reach the production of 1 billion pairs later this year. Who also has good perspectives for the market is the Center of the Leather Industries of Brazil which foresees selling nearly 10% of leather for the footwear sector. "Today, the area of footwear is one of the main segments of the leather sector", said the Executive President of the entity, Wolfgang Goerlich.
Shoe makers like Via Uno, are even more optimistic than the market and expect to grow 80% in 2010. In 2009, the company manufactured six million pairs throughout the year and in 2010 it intends to produce 10 million. Paketá Calçados, owner of brands such as Dumond and Capordarte, believes in a growth of production of 30% in 2010. The shoe fair alone corresponds to 20% of the sales relationship of the company. Last year, the company produced 1.1 million pairs. This year, it intends to launch nearly one thousand pairs of shoes. As regards Grupo Ramarim, its perspective is to grow nearly 15% in 2010. In the previous year, the company produced 40 thousand pairs of shoes a day.
Vulcabras intends to sell two billion pairs of shoes this year only with the Grazi Azaleia line. In the previous year, the company manufactured 40 million pairs of shoes. In this fair, the company is launching nearly 1600 versions of shoes among women's shoes, sports shoes, and slippers. The company has in its portfolio brands like Olympikus, Reebok, Azaleia, Dijean, Funny, Opanka and also Botas Vulcabras.
