Seminar shows increasing connectivity of Latin American companies

Brain presented the report “Connectivity for a business and investment center in Brazil” at the head office of Fecomercio for businessmen from various sectors

The president of Investe São Paulo, Luciano Almeida, participated on Tuesday, May 15, in the seminar “Latin American Multinationals: Internationalization and Innovation,” organized by Brain (Brazil Investments & Business), which released the report “Connectivity for an investment and business center in Brazil.”

According to the document, Brazil and Latin America are still somewhat connected to the region to which they belong and also the rest of the world with regard to the investment decisions, but it has already perceived growth.

In the opening of the event, the CEO of BRAiN, Paulo Oliveira, noted that Latin American companies are under a “recent and irreversible process of internationalization, mentioning that out of the 86 Latin American multinationals, 51 are present in the United States, 33 in Europe, 12 in the Middle East, and 22 in Asia.

The report indicates that Brazilian companies are present in 20% of the countries in the region, while European companies are present in 43% of the countries in its continent. Latin America accounts for 7% of the global GDP, but only for 5% of the global trade of goods. Europe and Asia accounted respectively for 29% and 13% of GDP and 37% and 22% of the international trade of goods.

The president of Investe São Paulo presented in the seminar a few factors that show that the state of São Paulo is following the trend of connectivity. “The regional headquarters of major multinational companies operating in Brazil are located in São Paulo,” said Almeida.

The circulation of people, for example, is an essential factor for the consolidation of a business center. According to the economist Luis Carlos Mendonca de Barros, the logistics infrastructure is a major problem in Brazil. “If there’s one sector that the federal government should put its priority, it is the logistics sector, in particular, the railroad modal,” he said.

For the president of Brain, Brazil started to occupy a new place in the global scenario over the past decade, and Latin America has also become an important continent.
