São Paulo system to have new park

The temporary accrediting of the Eco-Technological Damha Park (Parque Eco-Tecnológico Damha), which will occupy an area of 1 million square meters in the SP-318 Highway, which connects São Carlos to Ribeirão Preto, was signed by the State Secretary of Development Geraldo Alckmin last week. According to the Secretariat of Development, the place will be intended for the sectors of information and communication technology, biomass, renewable sources of energy and material engineering. The region has another initiative, the São Carlos Science Park, whose pre-accreditation was executed in 2008.

The president of Instituto Inova, the managing entity of the Eco-Tech Park, José Octávio Armani Paschoal, affirmed the project foresees the implementation of a new business incubator inside the Eco-Tech. Instituto Inova will be physically installed in the Innovation Center, inside an area located in the Eco-Technological Dahma Park. The Park Innovation Center should be implemented within two years and it will feature an incubator and areas for assistance and support.

The São Paulo System of Technological Parks (SPTec) is a group of interconnected technological parks whose purpose is the promotion of the economic development of the State, by means of the attraction of investments and generation of new intensive companies aimed at knowledge or of technological base. Currently, there are 19 initiatives in partnership with the Secretariat of Development for the implementation of Technological Parks. Americana, Araçatuba, Botucatu, Campinas (Ciatec and the Unicamp Research and Innovation Center), the São Paulo Metropolitan Region (Grande ABC region), Guarulhos, Piracicaba, Ribeirão Preto, Rio Claro, Rio Preto, São Carlos (ParqTec and EcoTec), Santa Bárbara do Oeste, Santos, São José dos Campos, São Paulo (Jaguaré and Zona Leste) and Sorocaba.
