São Paulo Motor Show Attracts Global Executives

Meio&Mensagem

With the crisis in developed countries, Brazil has definitely gotten on automakers' radar. The 27th São Paulo International Motor Show, which is going to take place between October 24 and November 4, is expected to be visited by automakers' global senior executives for the first time.

The global CEOs of Volkswagen, Martin Winterkorn, and GM, Dan Arkerson, have confirmed that they are coming to Brazil to visit Latin America's main automotive event and one of the top five worldwide. Ford's vice president of global marketing Jim Farley and Jaguar Land Rover's global CEO Ralph Speth are also going to visit the show.

The event, held at the Anhembi Exhibition Pavilion, is going to feature 49 Brazilian and imported brands, totaling 113 exhibitors from 11 countries. Lexus (Toyota's luxury vehicle division), Chinese Great Wall and Rely (SUVs) are some of the brands debuting at São Paulo Motor Show this year. Whereas Dodge's Ram is back, the 2012 edition is not going to bring Lamborghini, Bugatti and Bentley – which had confirmed its participation previously, but canceled it earlier this week.

Ferrari and Masserati, which were not going to be at the show either, are going to be present, with one model each at the Fiat stand (the Italian automaker owns both brands.) The Motor Show organizers are expecting 750,000 visitors. It is worth noting that the Brazilian Grand Prix, the last race of the Formula 1 season, is also going to be held in São Paulo, on November 25.
