São Luiz Hospital prepares expansion of chain in the country

The São Luiz Hospital and Maternity Ward, with three units in São Paulo city, wants to take its logo to other cities in the Country. The chain of hospitals is conducting a feasibility study in eight cities, among them Santos and Campinas, in the State of São Paulo, Brasília (DF), Salvador (BA), Curitiba (PR) and Porto Alegre (RS). "As of 2011, we will define which cities we will start our expansion process from", says Franklin Bloedorn, Chief Operating Officer of São Luiz. According to him, there lays the reason the hospital has paid merchandising in the Brazilian soap opera Passione, aired by Globo, showing the whole country the facilities of the latest unit of the chain, the Anália Franco Hospital, on the East Side, opened in 2008. While it outlines the expansion project, the hospital is investing R$ 32 million (US$ 17.8 million) in the modernization and enlargement of the Itaim unit that will gain 56 new beds, an increase of 37% in its current capacity.
