Sales increase 10% on Children’s Day

The good expectations of the retail were confirmed this Children's Day and grew above the expected by the Brazilian Association of Shopping Centers (Abrasce). On the average, the sales in the shopping malls in São Paulo had growth of 10% in relation to last year's. The result exceeds the 6% of increase projected by the Abrasce for the 385 member shopping malls of the entity in Brazil.

Julio Cesar Alloe, superintendent of Shopping Butantã, affirms that, compared to last year, there was increase of 15% in the public and the sales increased 12%. At Shopping Interlagos, the increase got to 8% in the sales, whereas at the Central Plaza Shopping, the sales this year exceeded those of 2008 in 10%, mainly on in toys and children clothing.

The movement in the region of Rua 25 de Março was much greater than last year's, confirmed Ondamar Ferreira, general manager of the popular chain Armarinhos Fernando. "Regardless of the crisis, there street were more crowded and our sales increased nearly 5%", he affirms. Ferreira expects a pause in the movement within the next 15 days, before the resumption with the Christmas sales.
