Sale of German TMD allows Brazilian branch to keep growing

The sale of the TMD Friction Group to the Pamplona Investment Fund opens new perspectives, also in Brazil, where one of the largest world manufacturers of brake lining and pads has a plant. "The negotiation allows us peacefulness to keep the investments and growth plans in Brazil", said Feres Macul Neto, CEO of the operation that, in the Country, has a state-of-the-art plant in Indaiatuba (SP), which was opened two years ago.

According to Feres Macul, the Brazilian market started its recovery after the crisis and that made it possible to keep regular jobs. Feres affirmed the Brazilian operation is considered one of the best of TMD's, also regarding the transference of part of the production for commercial vehicles from German to Brazil. The CEO of TMD in Brazil does not disclose the income of the company in Brazil, but he says the company increased sales by 15% in 2008.

TMD produces brake linings and pads for commercial and passenger vehicles, besides products for competition and industrial and rail applications. It is also a global supplier of several makers and of a wide range of vehicle platforms. The company also operates in the market of replacement with the Cobreq brand, which is used in South and North America. The group owns the Textar, Don, Pagid, Mintex and Cosid brands.
