The Port of Santos should receive investments of nearly US$ 3.5 billion (nearly R$ 6.1 billion) for expansion works and R$ 6 billion (US$ 3.4 billion) for accessibility in 2014. The forecast is made by the President of the São Paulo State Port Company (Codesp), José Roberto Correa Serra, who was yesterday at the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo to discuss the expansion plan and the study developed by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for the waterway development of the region of Santos. According to Serra, the investments of R$ 5 billion (US$ 2.9 billion) that have already been budgeted for the works in the port will be used to begin a new stage of the port. "Those investments will be made in order to meet the needs of demand and access the port will have within the coming years", he said.
