Paint sector recorded an increase of 16% in the trade balance

The paint and varnish industry grew 16% in the trade balance in the nine months of this year compared to same period of 2009. Imports amounted until September nearly US$ 185 million and the export volume totaled US$ 117 million, according to the State of São Paulo Paint and Varnish Industries Syndicate (Sitivesp).

According to the entity, the data are collected quarterly based on the monitoring and analysis of information provided by the Secretariat of Foreign Commerce of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, which also indicates the balance trade within Mercosur. For the countries of the block, were exported on average 19.6 tons of products, the imports accounted for an amount of 2.3 thousand tons of paints and varnishes.

In total volume, from January to September 32,9 thousand tons were imported, and expecting to achieve later this year 43,8 thousand tons. The figure represents growth of over 23% compared to 2009. Until last September, 39,8 thousand tons were exported, projecting to reach 53,1 thousand tons by December, an increase of 9% compared to last year's data.
