Nutrin negotiates third acquisition and studies admission of capitalist partner

Nutrin is getting ready to establish itself as a consolidator in the sector of collective meals. The company, headquartered in Americana (SP), negotiates its third acquisition and is talking with Galeazzi & Associados for the contracting of a consulting work that would make it ready for the entrance of a financial partner capable of providing support to its expansion. According to its General Manager, Aderbal Nogueira, the company will invest nearly R$ 3 million (US$ 1.7 million) in the acquisition of a rival of São Paulo that earns nearly R$ 18 million (US$ 10 million) a year and has nearly 40 clients. The negotiations should be wrapped up in May and Nogueira keeps the name of the company in secrecy. At the end of December, Nutrin received the release of a R$ 7 million (US$ 3.9 million) financing from the National Development Bank (BNDES).

Last year, the company that belongs to the São Paulo entrepreneurs Vasco Ferraz da Costa Júnior and Sérgio Siqueira Campos, made two purchases: 50% of the Minas Gerais based Gran Vittoria in July and Nutrimiza, from Caxias do Sul (RS), in December. With the deals and the increase in the sales as of the second half, Nutrin ended 2009 with earnings of R$ 144.5 million (US$ 80.3 million) - an increase of 25.6% compared to the previous year.

Other acquisitions figure on the radar of the company, especially considering the ambitious growth plan that began being outlined in the end of 2009. "We want to be a company of R$ 1 billion (US$ 556 million) in earnings in 2014", says Nogueira. That means growing more than five times our size - the expectation for 2010 is to earn R$ 180 million (US$ 100 million). Glauco Abdala, partner of Galeazzi, with whom the company has been keeping conversations since December, says the goal is feasible if the company has capital through an investing partner to grow purchasing rivals and adjusting them into a standard of quality and care.

Besides going shopping, Nutrin bets on the organic growth, as of the recovery of the economy, and of the opportunities of supplying that should arise from the oil sector, with the discoveries of pre-salt layer. "The first quarter was totally atypical. In general we lost revenue with the slower pace of activity and blanket vacations in the companies, but this year we have opened more than 30 restaurants", he says. Another bet to gain market is the entering into of agreements with brands known in the food squares to offer "brand" dishes in the restaurants of the companies. The first agreement was entered into with Vivenda do Camarão, which will provide the ingredients and has trained the employees of Nutrin for the preparation and presentation of the meals.

The company is also cutting costs and it plans to create its own brand juices - the idea is to buy the production from a single supplier for all its 305 corporate restaurants in the country. The project should the spending with the beverage reduce between 20% and 30%.
