The launching of a compact car by Nissan in Brazil will be the basis of the planning of the company for the 2010-2012 three-year period. Still in stage of planning, the maker has made it clear it intends to fight for the market of cars that cost between R$ 30 thousand and R$ 40 thousand (US$ 15 and 20 thousand). According to the CEO of Nissan for the Mercosul, Thomas Besson, the whole strategy should be outlined around this model. The executive, however, did not provide further detail on the car.
Yesterday, the car maker presented the market the minivan version of Livina, so far available in the in the country only in the hatch back version. The company also inaugurated another dealership, located in São Carlos, in the interior of São Paulo. With the new dealership, the company has increased to 70 the number of dealerships of the brand in the country. Besson's forecast is to get to 93 points until March/2010, which will mean growth of 33% over the current basis. In total, 46 companies have Nissan dealerships in Brazil. According to the executive, at the time we are targeting at the metropolitan region of São Paulo and it should continue doing so until the end of the year. Another metropolis he points out is Rio de Janeiro, where the same strategy may be used in the future. Today, Nissan has 0.7% of participation in the Brazilian market. Besson's goal is to get to 1% in the end of the year.
