New information network debates the field

Valor Econômico

To discuss issues related to the economic, social and environmental aspects of the field, it will be launched today, in São Paulo, the RedeAgro, a network of knowledge of the Brazilian "agribusiness" intended to disseminate information and discuss the direction of the sector. Coordinated by the Institute of Commercial Studies and International Negotiations (Icone), from an initiative of companies and entities related to the agribusiness, the network seeks to act from the production of studies, research and articles, "organizing and opening room for experts and scholars interested in the themes of the agribusiness, providing information to researchers, students, the press, the civil society and other opinion makers".

According to Andre Nassar, General Director of Icone, the network will have a technical focus and it will work in partnership with the Program of Studies of the Businesses of the Agro-Industrial System (PENSA/USP) and will be based on an internet site with three basic fronts: information/news, signed articles and technical papers of collaborators. "The plan is to attract a strong body of scholars, therefore the relevance of the partnership with the PENSA". The network is not directly related to the initiative led by the former Minister Roberto Rodrigues of creating a campaign in the media in defense of the image of the Brazilian agribusiness. But they are projects that can be considered complementary.
