The truck market should grow more than 10% in 2010, according to projections of the makers installed in the country. One of the foundations will be the governmental program of incentive that helped boost sales as of the second half of 2009. According to projections of the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers (Anfavea), next year the domestic sales of trucks should be above 120 thousand units. The volume is close to 2008's, the year when nearly 118 thousand trucks (if only the national trucks are counted) were licensed.

According to the CEO of MAN Latin America, which produces the Volkswagen trucks and buses, Roberto Cortes, in 2010 the market should recover the volume of 2008. For the closing of 2009, the monthly improvement of the truck makers, mainly as of the second half, will assure a retraction below what was expected by the market. The projection is that the makers of trucks end this year with a 10% fall compared to the last year.

The measures of the Federal Government were vital for the recovery of the sector, says the CEO of MAN Latin America. According to him, the conversations with the Government are going on, as well as the monitoring of the sector. At the end of November the exemption of the IPI (Excise) for the sale of trucks until the end of June 2010 was announced.

"If the resumption of the economy and the governmental incentives continue, this trajectory of the sector will continue and chances are that we should reach 2008's levels again in 2010", said Cortes. The same optimism is revealed by the manufacturer Iveco. "The IPI reduction and the reduction of the rates of the Finame (Special Agency for Industrial Financing) and of the Procaminhoneiro (Financing Program for Truck Drivers) helped the resumption of the sales of trucks. Today, 80% of the sales of Iveco are made through a financing program", said Commercial and Institutional Vice President of Iveco for Latin America Antônio Dadalti.
