Magazine Luiza launches new website and seeks growing in Internet sales

With an estimate of 40% of increase in electronic sales, Magazine Luiza restructured its site that will be launched on the 22 with new interactivity tools. There is also the forecast of increase of the financing in its own credit card through the site, with payment in up to 24 installments that, before, could be made in up to 12 installments. For the Christmas demand, the chain has increased the personnel by 20% and new carriers should be hired.
Besides getting ready for Christmas, the goal is to turn its electronic commerce (e-commerce) more competitive after arrival of players like Casas Bahia and Walmart to the market. According to Frederico Trajano, Marketing and Sales Officer of Magazine Luiza, currently, the virtual stores - the e-commerce - represents 13% of the earnings of the chain.
According to Trajano, the next project will be increase of the Distribution Center (DC) in the city of Louveira (SP), responsible for catering to the e-commerce and to the stores of the Metropolitan Region of Sao Paulo. "The works at the site will commence in the beginning of 2010, increasing it from 50 thousand to 70 thousand square meters". The chain would also be getting ready to go public soon, but the Officer refused to talk about the issue. However, the hiring of former Investor Relations Officer (IRO) of VisaNet, Vitor Fabian, is one of the signs.
