The arrival of the second half of 2009 may bring extra impulse to the manufacturers of the sector of capital goods in Brazil. Even with the retraction seen in the first half of the year, the gradual improvement of the market already starts being felt, as observed the commercial officer of New Holland for Latin America, Marco Borba. "These last announcements of the Government will provide some extra impulse. We foresee, for the second half, growth nearly 30% to 40% better than in the first half", affirmed the executive.
According to Borba, the perception is that the scenario is becoming more favorable for the resumption of investments in the Country, which may begin reversing the 40% retraction the company went through in the first half of the year. "There is an improvement both in the part of prospection and in businesses being closed", affirmed the officer, emphasizing the markets of civil construction and infrastructure are the warmest at the moment.
The mood of the sector of machinery and equipment, positively impacted with the recent package of incentives of the Government, was also already registered by the survey made by the Brazilian Machinery Manufacturers Association (Abimaq), released yesterday. In June, despite the 17.2% decline in the comparison with the same month of last year, a 10.6% growth was registered in relation to the previous month. The sector has registered signs of improvement, with growth in income, every month. Until the end of the year, in case the positive scenario is confirmed, the sector should register a 14% fall compared to 2008.
The positive performance came, mainly, from segments associated to the sector of oil and gas. The segment of pumps and motor pumps, for instance, presented growth of 12.1% in the period. The segment of heavy mechanics, on its turn, presented growth of 19.8%. For the next months, the main expectation concerns the real arrival of the BNDES financings to the market. "The rates [4.5% a year] are comparable to those of our rivals abroad. This is unprecedent", affirmed the vice-president of the Abimaq, Carlos Pastorizza. Besides the rate, the purchasers will also have another ten years of financing, besides a two-year period of grace.
