Driven by the positive perspectives for the areas of infrastructure, building construction and events in the country, Rohr, a Brazilian company specialized in projects of access engineering and equipment rental, plans on disbursing R$ 300 million (US$ 166.7 million) by 2015 to increase the offer of machines and tubular structures (used, for instance, in scaffolding), as well as the productive capacity of the plant it has in Casa Branca (SP). The company foresees growth of 20% in the earnings for this year, in view of the improvement of the market of machinery and equipment already due to the investments, compared to the R$ 200 million (US$ 101.5 million) obtained in 2009.Part of the funds will come from the cash of Rohr and another will be raised from lines of credit with private banks. In case it acquires another company, additional investments will be needed. For this year, according to Fernando Canteruccio, Executive Vice President of the company, the investments are estimated at R$ 70 million (US$ 38.9 million), applied on the purchase of equipment and manpower training. "Increasing the offer of machines is worthless if you don't have a specialized team. We will train technical manpower, because that is what is missing in the market", says Canteruccio. In this regard, Rohr has entered into a partnership with the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of São Paulo (IFSP) and it will select 10 "trainees" who will follow up the company during the engineering studies.
Rorh currently has nearly 1.5 thousand employees, but the staff should grow as the expansion plan is executed. One of the areas that will surely receive back-up is the area of events, which today has 6 professionals. "Today, the area is responsible for up to 5% of our earnings, but with the FIFA Soccer World CupTM and the Summer Olympics, it should have a little more relevance", says Canteruccio. During the events, says the executive, it will be necessary to install temporary structures that may be projected and provided by Rohr. In South Africa, he says, 100 thousand square meters of temporary tents were used.
Besides the additional demand generated by great events, there will be greater demand for access engineering projects within the sphere of Growth Acceleration Program (PAC) and industrial projects in the assessment of the company. According to Canteruccio, the segments of civil and industrial construction have similar weight for the businesses of Rohr, which, among other contracts, is a service provider and supplier of Petrobras, Vale and Braskem. In the area of construction, one of the highlights of Rorh are the works performed in Marginal Tietê, in São Paulo, which use an innovative system developed by the company called Successive Balance, which allows the construction of bridges and overpasses without the necessity of a structure coming up from the ground. According to the Executive, the investment package until 2015 foresees the production of six pairs of the system.
