M. Cassab to have three new plants until 2015
Valor Econômico
M. Cassab has put in operation a plan to double its productive capacity in the area of animal nutrition in the next five or six years. The strategy will complement the work started in the last days of 2007, when the company closed the purchase of the unit of Cargill Nutrição Animal in Cascavel (PR). Before going on with the program of investments, M.Cassab has closed the absorption of Nutriago, headquartered in Valinhos (SP), a company that has already belonged to Basf. It is a hire-purchase contract. With the deal, the total capacity in the area of animal nutrition of the company went now up to 5.5 thousand monthly tons.
The unit located in Valinhos will be fully dedicated to the so-called white line, which produces pre-mixtures of products intended for the animal nutrition free of therapeutic agents - some ingredients are harmful to some species, and that requires the separation. With that, the part of the plant the company has in São Paulo dedicated to the white line will be "released" for products in which the therapeutic products can be added.
The first of the three new plants to come out of the paper should be the one located in Campo Grande (MS). The company already has a premix plant (pre-mixture of minerals and vitamins used in the composition of feed) aimed at bovines in the city, but it is outdated and it is badly located, in the urban perimeter. The new unit of Campo Grande, which will replace the current one, will have capacity to produce 2.5 thousand tons. The plant in operation has capacity to produce 1.8 thousand tons.
The next step in the growth strategy, according to the director, will be the construction of a premix unit for swine feed in Xanxerê (SC), right in the hog raising center of the west of Santa Catarina.
Vila Maria (RS), that has just received an M. Cassab distribution center, should also receive a premix plant for bovines, even though at a second moment. The plants planned for Xanxerê and Vila Maria will have, each, s monthly capacity of 2.5 thousand tons.
