Luxury Sedans and launchings stimulate makers

Even though it does not achieve the great sales and production figures of the compact models, the market of more expensive cars of the car sector is daily getting a greater share for its performance. From 2005 to last year, this segment, whose cars cost between R$ 86 thousand (US$ 44 thousand) and R$ 100 thousand (US$ 51.8 thousand), grew 125% - reaching annual sales of 47 thousand units in the Brazilian domestic market.

According to Ford's Marketing manager Adriana Carradori, the expectation is that the sector still sees growth in sales in 2009 compared to the previous year. The sensation of growth of this segment is also being observed by General Motors (GM). The Chevrolet Marketing director (of GM), Gustavo Colossi, affirmed the demand for these cars has been increasing. Despite the expansion of this segment, the Chevrolet Marketing director affirmed the great niche in Brazil is that of compact cars, holders of a market share between 65% and 70%.

The car sales record in the first half of the year in Brazil is the stage for more launchings of new models that are stirring up the Brazilian car industry. Today Korean Kia's Kia Soul urban crossover arrives in the Brazilian market. The expectation, in the launching, will be the position of the CEO of Kia do Brasil, José Luiz Gandini, regarding the project for the local production of the maker. The projection of the Korean maker is that three thousand units of the car be sold until the end of 2009. This Friday it will be Honda's time to announce the arrival of the Honda City in the Country, the third vehicle of the Japanese maker that will be locally produced, after its Fit and Civic.
