Largest Italian business mission ever undertaken in Brazil gets to know the investment opportunities in SP

Director of Institutional and International Relations of Investe SP introduced the agency’s services to approximately 250 companies from Italy at the headquarters of Fiesp; São Paulo is the Brazilian state with the largest number of Italian companies

The largest Italian business mission ever undertaken in Brazil arrived in São Paulo. Representatives of approximately 250 Italian companies participated in Monday, May 21, in the first event in Brazil at the Federation of Industries of São Paulo (Fiesp).

“Never in the history of Fiesp has this auditorium been filled only with representatives of the visiting country. It is a clear demonstration of the potential of this meeting,” said the director of the Department of International Relations and Foreign Trade of Fiesp, Thomas Zanotto, in the opening of the event.

“São Paulo is the state with the greatest capacity to produce and consume,” said the Director of Institutional and International Relations of Investe SP, Sérgio Costa, noting that the state has the largest consumer market in the country, with 42 million people.

In addition to pointing out the quality of the logistics infrastructure of São Paulo, Costa said that São Paulo is the state that most invests in research and development and the main destination of investors from the oil and gas sector due to the reserves of Santos Basin.

“Investe São Paulo is available to all of you, to advise you for free when it comes to taking advantage of the investment opportunities existing in the state,” said Costa.

On the other hand, the Economic Advisor of the Italian Embassy, Cristiano Musillo, presented the results of a survey conducted by the Embassy that identified the existence of 705 Italian companies in Brazil. São Paulo is the state that has the largest number of these companies: 54%. The sectors that stand out are the machinery and industrial components sector, and the automotive sector.

The mission, promoted by the Italian Ministries of Economic Development and Foreign Affairs, in conjunction with the Department for the Promotion of Exchanges of the Italian Embassy, includes an intense schedule, such as visits to some of the main industrial centers of the country, including São José dos Campos and Santos.

Italy-Brazil Moment
The arrival of the Italian mission is part of the actions related to the Italy-Brazil Moment, which happens throughout the State of São Paulo since October 2011 and ends in June this year. The event aims to contribute to improve the relations between the two countries in the economic, commercial, technological, scientific, cultural and education sectors. In addition, it aims to consolidate the feeling of affinity between the two countries and involve the almost 25 million Italian descendants living in Brazil.
