Johnson Electric transfers headquarters to Arujá and doubles production

In project supported by Investe SP, investor from Hong Kong acquires new equipment to expand production of automotive cooling fans

Investe São Paulo

On April 27, Johnson Electric, a multinational leader in motion products, control systems and flexible interconnects, announced the transfer of its Brazilian headquarters and industrial plant to Arujá (SP). The project has been assisted by Investe São Paulo, the investment and export promotion agency associated with the Department of Economic Development, Science, Technology and Innovation of the State of São Paulo and involves an investment which amounts to US$ 10 million (approximately R$ 40 million, considering the exchange rate of R$ 4 = US$ 1) for a structure that will accommodate up to 135 employees.

Johnson Electric’s investment was prospected by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex-Brazil) during a mission to China in November 2015. After the decision that the plant would be built in the state of São Paulo, Apex-Brazil introduced the company to its partner, Investe São Paulo.

“The constant strengthening of São Paulo’s supply chain shows that, despite the crisis, investors are still confident in the state’s governance structure,” said the president of Investe SP, Juan Quirós.

Currently, the company concentrates its operations in Guarulhos, with 75 employees. However, due to its investment in new equipment and the intention to expand, it faced the need to acquire a larger space.

Thus, the company contacted Investe SP to find a location that would be next to the state capital and highways that would enable the flow of production. Johnson Electric’s cooling fans are used for cooling engines of the country’s main automakers, mainly located in São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Argentina.

The construction works are expected to be concluded by August.
