Italian multinational organizes an event in Guarujá to develop oil and gas sector chain

Saipem, which relies on the support of Investe SP, will invest US$ 300 million in Santos and presented, last Thursday, business opportunities to potential suppliers

Saipem, the first major supplier of Petrobras for the pre-salt, to be settled in Santos with the support of Investe SP, held, on Thursday, May 3, in Guarujá, a business meeting with approximately 50 entrepreneurs in the city. The company’s goal was to present business opportunities to the potential suppliers of goods and services.

“We are offering free assistance for the companies to enable the investment of US$ 300 million, which will generate approximately 950 direct jobs for the region,” says the president of Investe SP, Luciano Almeida.

During the business meeting this Thursday, Saipem detailed its investment program in Guarujá, explained what the company’s general and specific demands are, and presented its estimated purchase. Thus, entrepreneurs had their questions answered and contacted the team of professionals of Saipem responsible for hiring and registration.

“By qualifying as a supplier of Saipem, the company becomes a potential supplier of other large companies in the oil and gas sector,” explains the project manager of Investe SP, Gustavo Faria.

Investments
The Italian multinational Saipem announced in October 2011 the acquisition of the port terminal of Guarujá. The company will install two projects on the location: a Pipeline Logistics Base and a Technology and Offshore Construction Center - CTCO. The first project will start operating in August 2012 and the second is scheduled for the end of 2013.

Investe SP provides assistance to Saipem since February 2, 2012, when a memorandum of intent was entered into between the agency and the company. On the same day, Saipem entered into a memorandum with the Department of Energy of the State of São Paulo for the cooperation in the development of the project.
