On Tuesday, April 16, the members of InvestSP team met with members of the UK Department for International Trade (DIT). InvestSP was represented by members of the investment project and institutional areas. Representing DIT-UK, the meeting was attended by the investment director in Brazil, Flávia Franco and the investment manager, Jaqueline Nakamura.

Nakamura showed the areas of operation of DIT in Brazil, which provides support for British companies to invest in the country and assists Brazilian companies wishing to do business in the UK. As a result, the two entities have a great synergy. There is a possibility for DIT to send investors to be assisted by InvestSP, while the latter may refer companies from São Paulo that wish to expand their activities to the United Kingdom.

During the meeting, strategies for InvestSP to attract British investments were discussed. Nakamura explained that Brazil – as well as the state of São Paulo – is a priority market for UK investors, due to the compatibility with many of the fronts worked by DIT, such as the automotive, technology, energy and advanced engineering sectors.

With regard to the internationalization of companies from São Paulo, Flávia Franco believes that the partnership between the entities is beneficial for those wishing to expand their international performance and settle in the British market. DIT may provide the necessary support for companies from São Paulo to enter more rapidly in the UK markets.

For the director of InvestSP, Sérgio Costa, the partnership with DIT and similar entities is a strategy of action that brings several positive results. “We have already assisted some companies that have been referred by DIT. This type of partnership is very important for attracting new investments to the state of São Paulo. The alignment between our teams is a key for us to work together successfully,” concluded Costa.
