The investments mapped by the National Development Bank (BNDES) for the 2010/2013 period amount to R$ 762 billion (US$ 416.4 billion), revealing growth of 40.3% compared to the investments that were projected for the 2005/2008 period. According to the President of the BNDES, Luciano Coutinho, the forecast for the next fours years corresponds to half of the investments planned for the country. The estimated growth of the investments is 7% a year. The mapping confirms the recovery of the investment plans of the industry and of the infrastructure area. "We have reasons to believe that, as the year of 2010 progresses and the global economy recovers, the investment plans will gain body and the investment growth rates will be stronger", he said.
For 2010, the BNDES estimates a ratio of the total investment on the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of 18.6%, returning to the level registered prior to the international financial crisis, which was 19% in 2008. For 2012, the goal is that the Gross Fixed Capital Formation (investment) gets to 21.2% of the GDP. In 2009, the investment/GDP ratio should close near 17%. The mapping of the BNDES indicates that the oil and gas industry will continue leading the investments in the country, with a total of R$ 307 billion (US$ 167.8 billion) until 2013.
