Investe SP participates in the First Korea-Brazil Business Forum
Seminar was attended by 100 Korean investors already interested in the Brazilian market
Investe São Paulo participated this Monday, May 4, in the 1st Korea-Brazil Business Forum: Business and Investment Strategies in the Brazilian Market held in the city of Seoul, in South Korea. The seminar was directed toward South Korean investors and totaled about 100 participants interested in the Brazilian market.
Organized by Korea-Brazil Society (Kobras), with the support of the Korean Institute for International Economic Policy (Kiep), the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kcci) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Commerce of Korea (Mofat), the seminar was held in the Convention Center of KCCI and was attended by the companies of the following sectors: information and communication technology, oil and gas, machinery and equipment, life sciences, green economy, among others.
The institutional and international officer at Investe SP, Sérgio Costa, presented the advantages of investing in São Paulo and made the agency’s services available to the investors. “It was possible to verify the strong interest that Korean people already have in the state of São Paulo. Several Korean lecturers referred to São Paulo as the Brazil’s primary financial and economic power”, he completed.
Representing the Embassy of Brazil, Vitor Diniz, presented the Brazilian economic context and highlighted the increasing volume of Korean investments in Brazil by mentioning companies which count on Investe São Paulo services for their investment projects in the state of São Paulo such as Hyundai, Samsung and Doosan.
Investe São Paulo will be on a mission in Korea until next Friday, June 8, holding meetings with companies and investors of several previously identified segments and providing support for the companies attending the seminar. A meeting with the members of the Embassy of Brazil in Korea is forecasted in addition to the meeting with the representatives of Korean Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Kotra).
In 2012, South Korea was the 15th largest investing country in Brazil. According to the Central Bank, Brazil received US$1.07 billion direct investments from South Korea in 2011, 1.5% of the total foreign direct investments received by the country.
