On Thursday, March 15, the director of Investe São Paulo, Sérgio Costa, represented the agency at the launch ceremony of Brazil Alliance 4.0, a public commitment of companies to the development and democratization of Industry 4.0 in Brazil. The idea was organized by ICC – Brazil (International Chamber of Commerce).

In addition to Investe SP, the commitment was signed by Joe Kaeser, Global CEO at Siemens; Cristina Palmaka, CEO at SAP Brazil; Paula Bellizia, General Manager at Microsoft; Frederico Grosso, Latam General Manager at Adobe; Altair Rossato, CEO at Deloitte; Rafael Steinhauser, Latam President at Qualcomm; Cristiano dos Anjos, Industry VP at Schneider Electric; Tobias Dratt, VP at Basf; and Antonio Eduardo Mendes da Silva, Country Manager at BSA in Brazil; and Luiz Augusto de S. Ferreira, President of ABDI (Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development),  and the representative of CNI (National Confederation of Industry) and ABDI (Brazilian Agency for Industry Development).

This project is part of the initiatives of the entity’s Digital Economy Commission, which has as one of its objectives to help the Brazilian industry to be included in the global value chain via 4.0 technologies.

“Our mission is to promote actions to disseminate the use of advanced manufacturing technologies, processes and applications at all levels of production chains. One of the mechanisms we are going to use is to connect Brazilian companies to the Digitization and Industry 4.0 task force of the B-20, through ICC representatives,” says Gabriel Petrus, executive director of ICC.

The platform will be incubated by the Digital Economy Commission of ICC in Brazil and will have the following challenges:

  • promoting the democratization of industry 4.0, connecting Brazil to international standards of innovation;
  • connect Brazilian companies to initiatives that already take place in the world (via the ICC platform);
  • promote actions to disseminate the use of technologies, processes and their applications;
  • identify international opportunities for the Brazilian private sector (via ICC);
  • promote training and qualification projects;
  • promote the dialogue with the government and regulators.

Joe Kaeser, Siemens’ Global CEO, is convinced that the initiative will help Brazil become more globally competitive in a scenario dominated by digitization. “The fourth industrial revolution is promoting significant changes in global industry. Brazilians, with their creativity and commitment with innovation, can obtain big benefits. Siemens is the leader in this transformation and is committed to acting as a trusted partner of Brazil in this challenge,” says Kaeser.

Adobe is very proud to be a part of this project. “Through our technologies, we give users real conditions to make it possible to use the data obtained during the customer’s journey to better understand each consumer and to deliver the right experience, in the right place at the right time, thus being more assertive in the decision-making. With the 4.0 alliance, Adobe enters with all its technological know-how – with artificial intelligence, cloud technology and digitization – to contribute to the evolution of the Brazilian industry and ensure that this development reaches international standards,” said Federico Grosso, Adobe’s Vice President for Latin America.

Paula Bellizia, President of Microsoft Brazil, says that Brazil is facing a confluence of new technologies such as Big Data, IoT, Artificial Intelligence, mixed reality, that will radically transform the industrial scenario. “These new technologies offer rapid adoption for large groups and access to innovation for small manufacturers. That is why the message I commend most in this alliance is the message of democratization. I’m sure that technology today represents the window of opportunity for us to give the desired leap of competitiveness in the Brazilian industry and for Brazil,” concludes the president of Microsoft Brazil.

For Cristiano dos Anjos, Industry VP at Schneider Electric, it is fundamental to democratize the concept of IIoT or Industry 4.0 in Brazil to boost sustainable industrial growth in the country. “It is necessary to raise the awareness that innovation is not a fad but something necessary and beneficial in our times,” says Cristiano dos Anjos.
