The Index of Confidence of the Industrial Entrepreneur (ICEI) got to 68.7 points in January, the highest result of the entire historical series, started in 1999. Results above 50 points indicate optimism, whereas values below 50 indicate a lack of confidence, explains the National Confederation of the Industry (CNI), responsible for the survey.
The index increased 2.8 points in January, compared to the previous result, of October last year, and it accumulates growth of 21.3 points since January 2009. In the analysis of the indexes that make up the ICEI, it is seen that the current conditions index went from 60.5 points in October to 62.7 points in January, the highest value of the historical series. "The assessment on the current conditions reflects the recent recovery of the economy", explains Renato da Fonseca, Executive Manager of the Survey Unit of the CNI. The index accumulates a high of 26.7 points compared to January 2009.
As for the index of expectations for the next six months, it reached 71.8 points in January, also the highest level of the historical series. In October last year, that value was 68.7 points. "The economy is getting past the crisis, which increases the optimism. Besides, in January, the index is always higher, because, at the beginning of the year, the entrepreneurs are more confident", says Fonseca.
