Brazilian companies should increase their investments in technological innovation at least for the next five years, mainly as regards the integration and monitoring of the whole company through the network in the so-called cloud computing. That is what believes Hewlett-Packard (HP), which starts its entrance in the world market by launching products and services focused on the sector.
According to Marius Haas, Vice President and General Manager of HP Networking, the strategy to lead the network market will be very aggressive in Brazil. "We hope the Department in HP be the market leader in the emerging countries. We even created organizations inside the company focused on each BRIC country [Brazil, Russia, India and China, before the inclusion of South Africa]", he says. "We know the relevance of Brazil and we know the Brazilian entrepreneur wants high technology safely and affordably. We will offer all that to him", says Haas. According to data of the company, the BRIC is responsible for 11% of the earnings of HP, which generates US$ 127 billion a year. The company has not released figures on its operations in the country.
An example of the relevance of the Brazilian market was the fact the new CEO, Leo Apotheker, has chosen Brazil as the first country in Latin America to visit in his eight months in office. According to him, the goal is to seek the world leadership in solutions for cloud computing, connectivity, and software. One of the actions included in the strategy of HP is enter into partnerships with companies that already render services for Cisco, its largest rival. "In the United States, we manage to do business with 30 of the 40 most important distribution channels (where the product or services can be acquired) in that country. We hope to do the same in Latin America", he comments. With the strong operation of the networking market, the company expects to grow 183% worldwide in 2011.
Marius Haas also foresees HP Networking will, in the "near future", have greater presence in Brazil than the sector of creation of software of the very manufacturer, which is the leader in the country. "The Brazilian companies already demand that (innovations in networking)", says Haas. The goal of HP, according to Leo Apotheker, is not to merely provide the applications.
Questioned by DCI it the cost to acquire technological innovations will be accessible to small and medium-sized enterprises, Marius Haas said the HP products and services should meet any demand. "Unlike the competition, we offer the best cost-benefit ratio. The cost may be higher at first, but it will be lesser than that of the products of our largest rivals. Besides, we give free support for updates, so as to provide an only initial cost to the company", explains the Executive. He says HP seeks to increase the number of partners that can reduce the value of the products from 35% to 45%.
Rita D'Andrea, Sales Director of HP Networking in Brazil, states the products and services offered by the sector may work for companies of different sectors, such as in education and in hospitals, as well as for public administrations.
