A reference in the development of technologies, solutions and raw materials for the industries of nutrition, health, beauty and bioenergy,  Grupo Sabará has announced the opening of its new Sodium Chlorite plant in Santa Bárbara d’Oeste (SP). With an investment of over R$ 15 million, the new plant has a production capacity of more than 20 thousand tons of Sodium Chlorite per year and is the only one in Latin America.

“Innovation has always been in our DNA and, because we have a vast technological collection, we decided to invest in the manufacture of Sodium Chlorite. To this end, we took as base our expertise in the generation of Chlorine Dioxide (Diox®), which enabled us to create a production process that is 100% automated, responsible for ensuring the reliability and quality of the end product,” highlighted José Eduardo Donato, commercial director of BioE Integrated Solutions.

The Sodium Chlorite plant was developed to offer maximum safety, productivity and performance. Therefore, all processes are automated with leading technology machinery. Moreover, to ensure the protection of the environment, all of the energy used in the process of manufacturing is obtained from renewable sources of the energy free market and the production is totally clean, without generating any type of residue.

With the manufacture of Sodium Chlorite, it will be possible to meet the business of two units of the company: BioE Integrated Solutions, responsible for the sugar and alcohol sector, beverages industry and energy market, and Sabará Químicos e Ingredientes, which operates in the segment of water treatment. "This verticalization and patented development of proprietary technology for generation of Chlorine Dioxide makes us the only Brazilian company capable of meeting demands that range from kilograms to 700 Kg/hour of generation. This opens opportunities to serve new markets, such as the textiles industry, tanning, paper and cellulose production, segment of metal-mechanics, among others,” highlights José Eduardo Donato.

According to Marco Antônio Sabará, president of Grupo Sabará, the opening of the factory is a milestone in the history of Grupo Sabará, since, until now, all of the sodium chlorite consumed in Latin America came from exports. “We have invested strongly in innovations and research to offer our partners the guarantee of having a trustworthy national supplier. We are ready for the challenges that lie ahead,” he evaluates.

The project has the support of Investe São Paulo – Agência Paulista de Promoção de Investimentos e Competitividade do Governo do Estado, on tax and environmental matters, in addition to connecting it with other government bodies.

“To have among our clients a company in which the social and environmental commitments are clear and strongly established; including recognized by the UN Global Compact for its sustainable engagement, is a source of great enthusiasm for Investe São Paulo,” highlights Sérgio Costa, director of the Agency. “The State wins with the high-performance solutions presented by Sabará in the treatment of industrial waters and also grows with this expansion, as part of the production will now be national. An investment that strengthens our role to encourage the development and economic potential of the state of São Paulo”, he adds.
