Government invests US$ 72 million in airport and roads

The Governor of São Paulo, José Serra (PSDB - Brazilian Social Democracy Party), and the Secretary of Transports, Mauro Arce, marked, on Friday, the conclusion of the works of expansion and improvements of the State Airport of Presidente Prudente, which received investments of R$ 7.9 million (US$ 4.39 million). "The works greatly increased airport safety and passenger comfort", said the Governor, during the cerimony. Still at the airport, the Governor also announced the beginning of the works of the new segment of the road - at a different level - that will pass under the Assis Chateaubriand Highway (SP 425) and that will receive R$ 3.9 million (US$ 2.17 million) in investments.
Next, in the municipality of Osvaldo Cruz, the Governor and the Secretary uncovered the inauguration plates of 14 infrastructure works made in the region - of which, one is a state highway, five are side roads and eight are road accesses - that amount to an investment of R$ 118 million (US$ 65.6 million). "This is the biggest inauguration I have done so far this year all over the interior of São Paulo", said Serra. On the list of the improvements is the recovery of the SP-294, Comandante João Ribeiro de Barros Highway - between Iacri and Adamentina, at an estimate cost of R$ 87.3 million (US$ 48.5 million). According to the Governor, it is a continuation of the Bauru-Marilia road, also made by State. "In this larger region, between what we have already invested and what we will invest next year the amount should get to R$ 1 billion (US$ 556 million)", he declared.
