Goodrich opens aviation unit today

The municipality of São Carlos (230 km from São Paulo) will host the first unit of the North-American Goodrich Corporation of Latin America. The unit that opens today, aimed at the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of equipment for aircrafts, received an initial investment of US$ 4 million. Another US$ 30 million should be invested in the next years. This is the sixth center outside the United States that renders services for equipment of commercial planes (nacelles), thrust reversals, flight control surfaces and other aircraft structures.
Goodrich is an international supplier of systems and services to the market of aircrafts, safety and defense. Ed Bevier, managing officer of the company, affirms that in the implementation of the processes of the company in the Country, it will be responsible for the maintenance of the compartments located under the plane wing (bonnet).
Goodrich is installed in a 4.6-million-square-meter condominium, at the TAM Maintenance Center, which should receive another 20 companies of the sector. At first, Goodrich will carry out the maintenance of the TAM Airbus planes. But the company awaits the approval of the National Agency of Civil Aviation (Anac) to carry out the maintenance in equipment of other airlines. Today, Goodrich has 12 employees and the perspective to generate nearly 50 jobs in the next years.
