A wool mesh weighing only 250 grams is the star of the new collection Camargo Alfaiataria has just put in the national market of menswear. The fabric, called Amadeus 365, it is the result of a partnership with Dormeuil, traditional company of the sector of fabrics for tailors created in France in the mid-19 century. Amadeus 365 - the number refers to the days of the year - promises to keep the body temperature both in winter and in summer.
In Brazil, the fabric is an exclusiveness of Camargo Alfaiataria. Abroad, it will be sold by Dormeuil with the logo of Camargo Alfaiataria. "The company that has products in Brazil for 50 years had never entered into a partnership of that kind with a Brazilian designer", says tailor João Carlos Camargo. And the businesses with Dormeuil promise to go beyond. "We plan to open stores together in Brazil. The idea is to have tailor-made service as well as ready-to-wear menswear, with clothes and accessories", says Camargo, who believes in the carrying out of the project for 2012. Camargo Alfaiataria will soon open its fourth store at the Iguatemi Alphaville mall, in Barueri (SP).
The cool wool Amadeus mash already made part of the Dormeuil line, but a heavier version with 280 grams. "From an idea given by João Carlos Camargo, who visited us in Paris, we decided to make a special version of the article for the local market. We believe it has the ideal characteristics of weight and suitability for the Brazilian climate", says Dominic Dormeuil, President of the company - and fifth generation of the family ahead of the business, who arrived in Brazil on Sunday.
Amadeus 365 is made with an advanced weaving process that uses a compact string that allows high precision. The article is available in several patterns, such as plaid, stripes and fish scale. The color palette features blue, mustard, wine, black and lead. "The Brazilian still has a very classic style, but I believe that will change gradually", says João Carlos Camargo. A suit made with Amadeus 365 at Camargo Alfaiataria should cost nearly R$ 6 thousand (US$ 3.5 thousand). To get an idea, the house makes tailor-made suits starting at R$ 3 thousand (US$ 1.8 thousand).
According to Dominic Dormeuil, the products of the company are sold in more than 70 countries. "We have invested nearly US$ 1 million a year in research and development", he says. The factory of the company is located in Huddersfield, England. According to Dormeuil, the made-to-measure clothing should not lose space, at least not in the medium term. "The consumer has sought exclusiveness, he wants to feel a touch of his own taste in the product". Dormeuil was established in 1842 by Jules Dormeuil, who began as an importer of English fabrics for the French tailors. A few years later he started manufacturing fabrics and, currently, he has also ready-to-wear clothes.
