Food group brings Chinese car

Valor Econômico – 05/13/2009

The importing of cars of the Chinese brand Chery will be under the responsibility of a food company from Salto, in the interior of São Paulo. Ignácio de Moraes Júnior, CEO of the JLJ group, which controls Nutriplus Alimentação, is travelling to China today to close the final agreements, according to information provided by the JLJ group.

The story between the company and the maker took place due to business done between the JLJ group and BBCA, Chinese state-owned food company, installed near Chery. JLJ, which has worked in the school food sector since 1982, intends to launch the Tyggo model in Brazil until the end of June. It is a sports utility car Chery will produce in Uruguay. So far, the only relation of the JLJ group with the car sector was limited to a car rental company, of the same group, of family origin. According to JLJ, Moraes Júnior intends, in China, to close not only the importation but also the setting up of a plant of the Chinese maker in Brazil. The direction of Chery has shown interest in having a plant in Brazil.

"The purpose of the meeting it the establishment of deadlines and the closing of the implementation schedule (of the plant), since the interest for the Chinese cars we are going to bring is increasingly bigger. Such behavior on the part of consumers and partners we are gathering in Brazil makes us accelerate some processes in order to cater to the demand", said the entrepreneur in a announcement made to the press yesterday evening; The company says that the purpose "is to make Brazil an export base for the countries of the Americas, including the United States". The Director of Ciesp (Center of Industries of the State of São Paulo) of Indaiatuba, Moraes Jr., will also integrate the Brazilian mission that will go to China and Saudi Arabia in order to discuss other businesses, mainly in the food area.
