Gazeta Mercantil - 07/15/2008

China, Mexico, Austria and Saudi Arabia are among the new purchasers of the Embraer 190 jet in the Farnborough fair, which is taking place in England. So far, nearly US$ 1.2 billion have been achieved in the sale of 32 units. 27 new sales were announced only yesterday. So far, Embraer entered into its greatest contract with Aeromexico, a Mexican airline, which will use the 190 jet in its fleet renovation program. 12 jets were acquired, at an approximate value of US$ 450 million. The new aircrafts will fly for the subsidiary company Aeromexico Connect, which already operates 28 ERJ 145 jets and received four Embraer 190 jets since last November. NAS Aviation, from Saudi Arabia, confirmed the conversion of five 190 jets from option to firm sale. The total value of the agreement, relating to the table price, is US$ 187.5 million and the airline company also has the purchase right of 12 other aircrafts of the same model. The beginning of the deliveries of the Embraer 190 jets to NAS is expected for 2010. The aircrafts will be used by the affiliates of the NAS Aviation group, complementing the current fleet of small-sized airplanes. Austrian operator Niki Luftfhart GmbH, owned by former pilot Niki Lauda, entered into an agreement for the purchase of five 190 jets. The agreement includes purchase rights for others five model 195 or 190 aircrafts. The total value of the deal is US$ 187.5 million. The deliveries are scheduled for next year's first semester. Last weekend, Embraer announced the negotiation with Chinese regional operator Kun Peng Airlines Co. The contract foresees five firm orders of the 190 jet units. The total value of the deal is US$ 187.5 million.
