Exports help drive rise in industrial productionValor Internacional
Exports helped boost physical production last year. In 12 out of 21 segments of the economy, there was an increase in export volume and industrial production. In the manufacturing industry, the volume shipped grew 1.9% while industrial production rose 2.2%. Analysts estimate that recovery of production occurred in many segments driven by improved domestic demand, although the exports’ positive influence happened in all segments in which there was an increase in the volume shipped. In addition to vehicles, trailers and bus bodies, shipments and physical production also rose in segments such as clothing, rubber and plastic, metallurgy, machinery and equipment and furniture.
