Embraer sells 50 Phenom 300 to NetJets, of the U.S.

NetJets, the largest operator of business jets in the world, has signed yesterday with Embraer a purchase agreement to buy 50 jets Phenom 300, plus 75 options. The total amount of the business, the most important conquered by the segment of business aviation of Embraer this year, could surpass the figure of US$ 1 billion, based on the list price of the aircraft. The model costs about US$ 8 million. The signing of the contract, according to Embraer, is expected before the end of this year, and depends on the completion of some contractual clauses on the parto f NetJets.
The start of the deliveries to NetJets is scheduled for 2013. The agreement includes maintenance support, including provision of a wide logistics, materials and services coverage for the new fleet, both in the American and European markets. NetJets, a company of the insurance and investment group Berkshire Hathaway, owned by the billionaire Warren Buffett, has a fleet of 800 aircrafts, formed by 13 models of the world's most popular business jets.
Embraer will develop the "Platinum" edition of "Phenom 300" in cooperation with NetJets, the pioneer and world leader in shared ownership of business jets. The jet, according to Embraer, will have comfort and technology requirements set by the owners of NetJets aircrafts. "We are pleased to be in a strong position in our industry and proud to announce this order for an aircraft of high performance, ideal for the needs of our owners in reliability, range, indoor comfort and operational efficiency", said President and CEO of NetJets, David Sokol.
Yesterday, the consortium formed by Helibras and Eurocopter announced the first two contracts signed with Brazilian suppliers who participate in the program of development of parts of the EC-725 helicopter, for the Armed Forces. The INBRA Aerospace will provide the cowlings and fairings of the tail cone and the intermediate structure of the helicopter in composite material. The technology, still not available in Brazil, will be developed in the country and could be provided to other models of the Eurocopter, as the Tiger and NH90. Toyo has been selected to do the machining of complex parts.
The selection process of Brazilian companies for the EC-725, which foresees the purchase of 50 helicopters for R$ 5.9 billion (US$ 3.47 billion), is accompanied by the Armed Forces, Ministry of Development, Industry and Commerce and by the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development. The process has already lasted two years.
