Embraer increases sales of 190 and 175 jets to Europe and Japan

KLM Cityhopper, wholly-owned subsidiary of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, closed the purchase of seven more Embraer 190 jets. The value of the contract has not been disclosed, but the aircraft list price, according to the manufacturer, is nearly US$ 38 million. The agreement between Embraer and the Dutch company that operates most of the European routes of KLM airline network also foresees another 11 purchase options of jet of the Brazilian company. The deliveries of the new order, announced yesterday, are scheduled to start in the first half of 2010. KLM Cityhopper already operates four Embraer 190 jets in the regional routes of Europe and, until the end of the year, it will have incorporated another ten jets of the model in substitution to the current 15 Fokker 100 of its fleet. All the 190 jets are set up to carry 100 passengers.
Embraer also announced yesterday the sale of a third jet, a 175 jet, to Fuji Dream Airlines. The original agreement with the company, executed in November, 2007, included firm orders of two 170 jets and purchase rights for another airplane of the same model. The average cost of one Embraer 175 is US$ 35 million. Fuji Dream, a Japanese company of the Suzuyo group, will start the commercial operations of the 170 jet in July this year. The company has already received two airplanes. As for the Embraer 175 model, it is expected to be delivered in 2010 and it is configured for 84 seats.
Until the end of the first quarter the family of E-jets of Embraer had 875 firm orders and 792 purchase options. Embraer has already delivered almost 600 airplanes of the models 170, 175, 190 and 195, which have exceeded the mark of 2.4 million hours of flight and carried more than 110 million passengers. The Embraer E-jets family has from 70 to 122 seats.
