Embraer bets on Brazilian market

DCI

Confident in the speeding up of the development in the airport infrastructure in the country, especially in midsize cities, the Brazilian Aeronautics Company - Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica - (Embraer) wants to increase its participation in the Brazilian commercial aviation within the next five years and, therefore, it has been making an effort to attract new businesses not only in the regional segment, but also with the major airlines. "The market as a whole is very promising, including the possibility of the entrance of new airlines from now on", told the DCI Luiz Hamilton Lima, Commercial Aviation Officer of Embraer for Latin America. He added that in the last 10 years, the Brazilian domestic sector has been growing at average rates of 11% a year, well above the 4% of the world average, pointing out that within that scenario regional aviation is very attractive in relation to new business opportunities.

According to Lima, among the factors that drive the acceleration of the sector, the growth of the Brazilian middle class has been attracting a new profile of passenger for aviation. Besides, there will the holding of some international events, such as the 2014 FIFA Soccer World CupTM and 2016 Summer Olympics, which should help with the increase of the investments in the airports, which will also cause regional decentralization. These factors will thereby trigger the increase of the investments in the fleets by the airline companies of the country.

"I have no doubt this is the best time for Embraer to increase its activities in the Brazilian commercial aviation", said the Executive while foreseeing that within five years, the company intends to have a significant participation in these markets, with a significant fleet of aircrafts of the company flying the skies of the country. "We do want to dominate the Brazilian market, with a strong presence. One day there will be a great amount of Embraer aircrafts in Brazil", foresaw the executive.

The Commercial Aviation Officer said that Embraer has always been alert and present in the regional markets around the world and the reason in the past there wasn't a greater fleet of the company operating in Brazil was due to factors related to the financial and fiscal policies applied to the country. Today, the company constantly monitors, in the commercial market, the large operators, the small- and medium-sized airlines, besides the potential incoming companies of the sector that may offer business opportunities using Embraer aircrafts.
