Embraer announces plant in the USA to customize jets

Embraer started the construction of its first executive jet assembly unit in the United States. The installation is intended to the final production of the equipment and will be headquartered in the International Airport of Melbourne, in Florida. The new plant will have a center of support to the businesses of the executive jet segment and will go into operation in 2010. The total capacity of the new unit will be of up to eight Phenom jets per month. However, the jets will be produced in Gavião Peixoto (SP) and will go to the United States to undergo completion and finishing. Embraer invested US$ 50 million. The management of the company informed, when the announcement was made in Brazil, that the government of the State of Florida and of the city of Melbourne offered tax incentives for the setting up of the unit in American soil. All employees will be Americans recruited in the region. According to surveys made by Embraer, the American consumer tends to choose aircrafts produced in the region and follow up the process. The premises in Melbourne will have a Customer Center for the Executive Aviation, whose function will be to offer the client a series of facilities in the choosing of the finishing and accessories of the Phenom, Legacy and Lineage jets. One of the tools used in this process will be the purchaser contact with a virtual version of the customized device. The clients will see the entire internal design of the jets using state-of-the-art 3D technology. Also, the place will feature a showroom with varieties of material and customizations for the internal finishing. The premises of Embraer, in an area of 14 thousand square meters, will shelter the final assembly line of the Phenom 100 and Phenom 300. Besides that, there will be a painting cabin, a delivery center and a customer design center, intended to help potential purchasers.
