The Director of Institutional and International Relations of Investe SP, Sérgio Costa, introduced the services of Investe SP and the main competitive advantages of the State of São Paulo for a delegation of 25 Dutch entrepreneurs who are in Brazil with the purpose of identifying business opportunities in the bioenergy sector. The presentation took place on Tuesday, May 8, in São Paulo, during a seminar that showed the scenario of the sector to the investors.
“In addition to offering free assistance for investors to identify the most suitable places for the installation of their enterprises, providing tax, environmental and infrastructure advice, we also assisted companies who want to expand their business in the state,” said Costa. “And Investe São Paulo continues to give support to entrepreneurs after the completion of their investments, in order to guarantee its competitiveness,” he added.
In the morning, the Secretary of Energy of São Paulo, José Aníbal, opened the event talking about the state initiatives in bioenergy, without losing sight of the focus on sustainability. According to Aníbal, the State Energy Plan provides for the expansion of clean energy in São Paulo from 55% to 69% by 2020. ”We want to go further and exceed 70%,” he said. He noted that the average clean energy is 42% in Brazil and 12.5% in the world.
The president of the Association of Producers of Biodiesel in Brazil (Aprobio), Erasmo Battistella, highlighted the country’s potential in the production of the main raw materials used in the production of biodiesel, such as soybean, cotton, animal fats, recovered oils and fats. “Currently, we have a production capacity that exceeds 6 billion liters. Now we must become more competitive to export,” he said. According to him, biodiesel emits 57% less particulate matter compared to fossil diesel.
On the other hand, the Vice President of Bulk Cargo and Industry and the Port of Rotterdam, Bas Hennissen said that the Port is the fifth largest in the world, the largest in Europe and the first in exports to Brazil. “In addition, the Port of Rotterdam is a center of the renewable energy sector in Europe,” he said.
